Tips for Independent Artist!!!
After compression, the next important step in the mixing process is EQing (Equalization). EQing is act of munipulating low, med, and high frequecies of your vocals or instruments. In simple terms a frequencey has a low bass end, a med range that isn't all low end but isn't all high end, and a high in where all the high frequencies are. EQing allows you to alter and change the fundemental of any audio signal. This allows you to make what you recorded sound better then it does right after recording. This is neccessary to understand as an artist because this process allows your song to reach a higher level of clarity, and clarity is your mixing goal. The better the clarity the greater the chance people will like your music. As an engineer mastering these things are mandatory, however if you are building your own studio as an artist you should have a standard understanding of this process to help cut cost, because whatever you don't know how to do you will have to pay someone to do. So learning this process can be extremely beneficial in the long run. For example, learning how to take the low end out of some kick drums can make the difference in your entire song. The smallest most minute adjustment can take a song from just being ok to becoming an amazing song. You have to remember that your mixing goal is to achieve the best clarity without lossing the musical integrity. The mix should not be noticed by the listener, and this is only accomplished by having the proper mix. A listener can not like a song because of the mix but not know they dislike the song because of the mix, it just want appeal to them. So this adds to the importance of perfecting your mix weather you are engineering a song yourself or hiring someone else to handle the task.
My Blog is focused on Independent Artist, who may not have the guidance or experience in audio recording. Therefore, I will explain audio tips so independent artist will have the best audio advantages to help assist them in there music career journey.

The Importance of Mixing!!!! (Part 1)
Tips for Independent Artist!!!
Don't underestimate the power of a great mix on a song. Mixing a song properly can be the determing factor of the public receiving your song and becoming successful. I have made songs that I didn't like until after they have been mixed. A listener will never get the full impact of a song no matter how good the song may be if the mix doesn't compliment what was recorded. This is the most important thing in the song making process even more then actually making the song itself. Because like I said no one will fully appreciate the song without a quality mix. To be succesful as an artist you must except and understand this process. There are several different things that can be done during mixing or processing that can all be used to take your song to a higher level of quality. One of the most important aspects of mixing is using compression, compression in simple terms is the act of lowering the dynamic range and frequencies of your voice after being recoreded. As you are rapping or singing your voice releases all types of frequencies that are high and low at different parts, so when you add compression to vocals this feature of pro tools allows you to alter those different frequencies so they are smoother and more in sync with one another instead of being to high and noticable taking away from your listeners hearing experience.

Recording Music!!! Where to Start?????
Tips for Independent Artist!!!
The first place!!! I would start at!!! when trying to record music, is actually knowing, researching and learning how to use the software you will use to record music. If your at the beginning stages of recording music, you can either buy your own equipment and software to establish your recording independence or pay someone who has already established a recording studio to record your music. Personally, if money isn't an issue for you, I would suggest to just pay someone to record your music, however, for most independent artist money will be an issue. Establishing your own recording studio can be even more expensive then paying someone else to record and mix your material, however, the experience and knowledge you acquire from piecing together your own personal studio can open doors to being equipped with a vast amount of skills beyond being a talented recording artist. I want you to know and understand that building a studio is a longer but more knowledgeable process. Trust me, when I first started I wish I had the money to just pay to record, but I wasn't so lucky. However, for you who's situation is similar, let me tell you I have went through enough trail and error to explain how you may want to approach developing your personal studio. So here I have prepared a starters list, and just to remind you this is the way I went about it, your path will be different, but hopefully this blog will eliminate some of the confusion. So I have listed 8 things to get you stared on your recording journey.
1. Recording space- Parents house, friends house, garage, anywhere with little to no interference.
2. Computer- Mac or PC
3. Recording Software- Fruity Loops(The Recording Edition) or Pro-tools
4. Microphone- Good quality Microphone. Affordable but also has to have good quality.
5. Headphones- Sony
6. All the necessary cables. XLR cables, midi cables, circuit breakers and extension cords.
7. Microphone Stand
8. Speakers/Monitors- If using FL Studios, purchase quality computer speakers, Pro-tools( M-Audio)
